Grouping design items A design group is a rectangle that encloses a number of design items (pages or other groups) and permits you to treat them as a unit. You move, copy, or delete them by moving, copying, or deleting the group. (You use the same methods you would use to move, copy, or delete a single page.) You can also close a group as a way of uncluttering the design temporarily. Groups are not defined logically. The items in a group need to be located within the group rectangle, but they don't need to be in any particular logical relation with one another. To group selected pages: 1 Select the pages. 2 Choose Edit > Group. A group rectangle encloses the selected pages. If unselected pages would be enclosed by the rectangle, they are automatically moved outside its border. To create an empty group in a particular location: 1 Drag a Design Group icon from the Site tab of the Object palette to an appropriate location in the design view. If there are pages in or near this position, they will move out of the way automatically. ![]() 2 Do one or both of the following if necessary: To add pages to a group: Drag pages into the group.
